I've got too many bottle openers. When I'm not looking for them, I find them in the utensil drawer, in the pantry, under the sink, and in that "junk drawer" -- the one with the packageless batteries that have yet to be tested to see if they're dead or charged. When I'm looking for an opener, they manage to make themselves very scarce, and I can't find any of them -- and this is before I start drinking.
A magnetic opener has always appealed to me, but I didn't want one up on the fridge that draws attention to itself. That is, I didn't want one side of the fridge to house my son's artwork, my wife's to-do lists and photographs, while "Daddy's side" only showcases a bottle opener. I have friends who are psychologists, and I just don't need the hassle.
So I ordered this thing. I know it's called a 4-in-1 opener, but I can only figure out 3 of its intended uses. It says it opens bags if you squish it down just so, but it doesn't work for me. For its primary use, it works like a charm. Bottle caps pop off. And it goes up on (the side of) the fridge, looking more like a round magnet than anything else. As for its other uses, if you look at the picture, it has a metal strip at the top that flips open (partially) to help you lift can tabs. I suppose it can do it, but I haven't tried. I did use its vice grip to open the twist-top off of a particularly malevolent bottle of ginger ale, so I'm pretty pleased about that.
Overall, a nice-looking, handy, always-where-I-expect-it-to-be accessory. Four stars because the bag-opening claim is a bit of a stretch.
This bottle opener is great for on the fridge, no one knows what it is until you tell them. It is perfect for opening bottles, plus the caps don't fall on floor because of magnetic.
The only reason it isn't 4 stars is because the picture showed a black opener, and they sent a orange one. I really like the orange one, but I would kinda like to know what color I would be getting.
